Job Posting: Café Staff

Queermunity is a is a vibrant event venue, gathering space, and café that offers a safer and affirming environment for its customers and employees, meaning this role requires a large amount of empathy, compassion and communication from staff. We are looking for people who care deeply about food, coffee, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ issues and people. While beneficial, this role does not require previous training or experience in food or coffee.

About the position:

The purpose of the Café Staff role is to offer excellent service to our customers, co-working partners, and members. The role entails opening & closing the café, preparing and serving sandwiches, snacks, and beverages, and maintaining a sanitary environment in the café space, storage, and on the floor.

Reports to: Director of Food and Beverage

Location: Twin Cities 

Job Types: Full-time, part-time, and ad-hoc positions available. Non-exempt

Salary Range: $16/hour + tips

What do you need to be successful?

  • An interest in customer service. 

  • Good attention to detail and work ethic. 

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to keep a positive attitude during busy periods.

  • Strong communication skills. 

  • Passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights and issues.

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. 

  • Ability to stand for 5-hour periods at a time.

Job responsibilities:

1. Opening and closing the café. Setting up tables, chairs, equipment. 

2. Serving both food and beverages. 

3. Using the Point Of Sale effectively to process transactions. 

4. Washing dishes. 

5. Light and deep cleaning of the dining area, kitchen, restrooms, and equipment. 

6. Handling customer feedback or complaints professionally. 

7. Ability to relay information to the Director of F&B as necessary. 

8. Ability and willingness to follow standard operating procedures, learn, and ask for help.
