Fi Diaz: Illustrating Memory and Migration
Fi Diaz is a traditional and digital illustrator born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1994 and currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her work captures life’s small pleasures and everyday moments through a nostalgic lens, shaped by her experience migrating across Latin America—including Ecuador, Argentina, and Brazil. The landscapes, traditions, and childhood memories from the places she has lived and visited emerge as recurring motifs, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into her world.
In 2023, Fi illustrated Sofia Goes Voting, a children’s book written by George Luccaci, and in 2024, her work was featured in Latina Latinx MN: Re/claiming Space in a Time of Change at the Catherine G. Murphy Gallery in Minnesota. Her pieces seamlessly blend personal history with collective experience, making her art deeply resonant and universally meaningful.

Now, we invite you to visit the gallery before the exhibition closes on April 27, 2025. Come explore the intersections of memory, migration, and identity through Fi Diaz’s remarkable illustrations.
