January Movie Night

Join us as Queermunity proudly launches Spectrum Cinema, a new film night series celebrating LGBTQ+ stories, identities, and artistry through the power of film. Designed to bring our community together, each event will spotlight a diverse range of genres and themes, fostering meaningful conversations and connections. Starting fresh in January, Spectrum Cinema will provide a space to reflect, connect, and find hope and resilience through powerful storytelling.

Moonlight

For our inaugural event, we’ll screen the critically acclaimed Moonlight, a masterpiece exploring identity, resilience, and self-discovery through the life of Chiron, a young Black man navigating the complexities of growing up, love, and belonging. Doors open at 5:00 PM, with the film beginning at 5:15 PM. After the screening, stay for a guided discussion where we’ll reflect on the film’s themes of vulnerability, strength, and connection, and how they resonate with our lives and community.

The event will wrap up by 8:45 PM. Throughout the evening, contribute to our Community Tree by sharing your hopes or wishes for the new year—a collective art piece symbolizing unity and aspiration. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase at the café to keep you fueled and cozy throughout the evening. Let’s come together to celebrate this powerful story, kick off 2025 with inspiration, and connect with others in our shared journey toward hope and resilience.
